Hi Bruce,

Doh! Yes, that is a bug. I will see if I can fix it and release a patch over the weekend. Thanks for the feedback and let me know of any other issues!

Jo
I just got started testing and it is very impressive. The only bug I found so far is the apache configure file http.conf. On my machine the drive is J: and I ran all the setup scripts but the last section of http.conf maps FWTools to drive F:. When I change that Xampplite starts fine.
Thanks!

Hi Leszek,

Well the next question is- did you extract the folders and files from within the zip and move them to the root drive or did you leave them inside the USBGIS_011 folder? They do need to be extracted. Having said that, my understanding is that gvSIG at least should run from whatever folder you want and I didn't make any changes to that! Let me know how you get on.

Thanks

Hi Jo,

Actually, I ran it from the root drive first, rather than from a thumbdrive, figuring it would load faster that way so that I could check it out, so speed had nothing to do with it. I'm back from a trip now, so I'll try it on my main system to see what happens.

I noticed that with Grass too, got the following error message:

access: Permission denied
ERROR: LOCATION <> not available

The is probably because my USB stick became my F: Drive when inserted.

Sorry about that Leszek! With the GRASS problem- if you're running it off a stick is it a slow stick? I find that on one of mine (an old USB 1 stick) it takes several minutes for GRASS to kick in after the command window closes, but on a fast stick it should come up straight away. Can you also try it on the root of your C drive instead? The gvsig issue is odd because I didn't change anything in their portable edition at all, don't get that on my and can't see where that line would come from, so I guess I'll ask on their mailing list and post an update if necessary.

A couple of glitches on my system. GRASS won't start; command window starts up then stops. gvSIG command window opens up, runs some commands, then gives the message 'C:\Documents' is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file'. The latter can probably be solved by putting the file path in quotes.
