Sorry for the delay in responding, I have been off work sick. Anyhow, these messages relate to aspects of the GvSIG package rather than portable gis as a whole. I think that if you use an unzipper such as winzip (or uniextract, which I use) then you just want to unpack the very top directory rather than have it continue through and unzip everything. I don’t think it matters if it fails to unpack those files anyhow- but let me know if you continue to have issues. Portable GIS 2 will have a different version of GvSIG and a better installation procedure so you shouldn’t have to wait too long for a fix.

I tried to “Extract All” in Win XP, and it says

Thanks for the information about uDig- that’s cool to know. It’s a difficult decision to know whether to add it in to the package permanently because it increases the size of the download even further. Having said that, I’m wondering about splitting the project into two and having a desktop package and a web-based package. That would work…

I have also put UDIG on the usb key which was a very simple exercise, zipped up my install (on my vmware machine), copied it to the usbgis/apps, midfieid the tray menu and it works without any changes!

Yes, that username and password should work in phppgadmin. I just tried- and it worked for me- what error message are you getting?
