Hi Roger,

Glad you enjoyed it- I agree with what you're saying about the need for someone to take the blame if things do go wrong- and I'm not sure how we get around that idea, or all the other misconceptions and fears about the lack of support etc. I hope this is something that becomes clearer as the industry matures.

Hi Jo. This was a really useful event for me, thank you for your talk. It gave me a few headstarts in looking towards some solutions we may be developing using the "big 3". Yes, I hadn't heard of Mapfish before either but we will be looking at that as well.

i think that the profile of OGC web services has risen quite substantially in the past year or so, and everyone's buzzword "INSPIRE" seems to be pushing this forward.

i think many fear open-source solutions b/c they don't like to do things themselves and worry about being held responsible if things go wrong. They lose the option to blame a product or a vendor when IT solutions aren't chosen properly or implemented correctly.

Sounds like a fun event, I'd love to see more Antarctic data available, it's one area where virtual globes don't work well though, except OSSIM planet with it's special projections. I'm dissapointed that th OS is still stuck in the 20th, or is it 19th, century though, they shoul be allowing free public non commercial use by now, the U.S. really puts us to shame in this regard.
