Portable GIS version 2 released
Over a year after releasing version 1 of Portable GIS, and over six months since I started planning a new version, I’m pleased to announce the release of version 2! I’ve set up a Launchpad site to track bugs and answer questions, and there’s also a google group. Click here to download it, and if the download server creaks under the strain, please try again later!
The new version comes with a self-contained installer, the most up to date stable versions of all the constituent packages, a control panel, and much improved documentation. It requires 1.3GB of space to install in.
I am also pleased to announce that this release comes with the option of enterprise-level support, customisation and deployment, via provided by OA Digital. Please see this link for further details of this exciting new service.

I can’t get the download to work at all.. does anyone have a mirror or other option?
Hi Darren,
I tried it just now and it works fine, all I can assume is that the server was dealing with a lot of traffic.
@GisGeek et al, yes, I need to look at other methods of distributing this- I’m investigating the best approach- and wanted to judge whether there was a need for it.
Hello from Brazil,
The download server isnt working properly since wednesday night. Five attempts resulted in lost. Is there any possibility to create a mirror?
Thanks a lot.
Hi,
I’ve tried it a couple of times and it seems OK, but I’ve uploaded it to a second location http://joannecook.com/portablegis_setup_v2.exe
I think there is only enough bandwidth for one or two people to download it at once, so it seems broken, but if you try again later it’s OK…
Thanks for trying!
Archaeogeek
I downloaded and it is running just perfect.
Thanks you.
